With Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin rebooting their original ‘Stargate‘ film into a new trilogy, one has to wonder what involvement fan favorites such as Amanda Tapping (‘Stargate SG-1′,’Sanctuary’) may have. Well, Tapping recently sat down for an interview and was asked if there was any interest in her returning to the series where she played Samantha Carter for over a decade. I’m going to warn you right now folks, this isn’t casting news you should get your hopes up for.

So would she be interested in returning?

“Interest? Yes. Involvement? No. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich have taken the property back. I don’t think they disliked the television series so much. But it wasn’t their vision. The rights had gone to MGM. Brad Wright and Jon Glassner got a hold of it and ran with it, successfully. I mean: 17 seasons of television. But I think Emmerich and Devlin are probably happy to have it back. Certainly no one has been calling any of the Stargate actors, saying, ‘Hey. I’ve got a part for you.’ It would be nice, but no.”

Sadly I don’t think Devlin or Emmerich are the kind of guys who would have interest in bringing any of these faces back as a cameo or Easter Egg. Honestly, I don’t think this would really be surprising to anyone as they are taking a fresh shot at the concept which they initially created. While I can understand the view of trying to not make reference ot the series as to not throw any confusion into the mix, it would still be fun for fans to get a last look at some of the actors and actresses even if they were in throwaway roles.

Would you love to see Tapping return even if it was just as a cameo? What do you think are the chances that it could actually happen? Share your thoughts below!
