‘Gotham’ originated as a prequel to Batman as we know him, depicting the seedy metropolis the Caped Crusader calls home during a time after the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne, focusing on the rise of Lieutenant James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in a burg overrun with corruption.  Along the way, viewers have gotten to know several players who will eventually become the rogues that menace the Dark Knight in modern day comics and movies.

The first season was a success and as Season Two returns on September 21st, these hoodlums will slowly blossom toward becoming the colorful bad guys comic fans know and love (or love to hate).

Two teasers give a glimpse of the new season, including new villains and a major step for young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).  These teasers aired on TV last night, during the season finale of ‘Wayward Pines’ but you can peep them out here!

The first is entitled ‘The Hunger’ and highlights the villains, most notably Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), a criminal nicknamed “The Penguin” who will one day emerge as one of Batman’s most nefarious foes.  In the clip, a desperate Gordon attempts to enlist Cobblepot’s aid, which should prove to be a bad idea.

Also on display are Cameron Monaghan, the fledgling Joker and Jessica Lucas who plays the whip-cracking Tabitha Galavan, a.k.a. The Huntress/Tigress.

The second clip, ‘The Cave’ is… probably pretty self-explanatory:

As you can see, the theme of Season Two is ‘Rise of the Villains’ and with so many interesting rogues in Batman’s gallery to choose from, things should get pretty dicey in ‘Gotham.’

What do you think?  What villains should rise this season?
