For those who have been waiting with anticipation for The Joker to show up on ‘Gotham,’ we’ll see that wait come to an end in the second season. We’ve already been told that Fish Mooney won’t be coming back so while it won’t be at one of her nightclub’s that he is introduced in. Of course, it could be the ex-nightclub that Penguin now owns where the clown prince of crime makes his first appearance.

We’ve had teases that The Joker would be introduced in the first season but now that doesn’t seem to be the case.

According to showrunner Bruno Heller:

“You’re not going to see teases of The Joker before the end of the season, because the beginning of Season 2 is a big Joker-oriented, or ‘how The Joker came to be’ kind of story. The beginning of Season 2 is the very earliest origins of how The Joker came to be.”

There is no word if Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome who killed his mother when we met the Grayson’s is going to end up as Batman’s most infamous villain or if we’ll be seeing someone else entirely wearing white makeup. We do know that Monaghan will be returning in the second season, so this could actually be our lead in to the character.

No matter how he is introduced we’ll be seeing a “pre-embryonic” version of the Joker so he won’t be quite as crazy as he’ll end up by the time young Bruce Wayne is in peak fighting condition.

I would hazard to guess that he was just a teaste of whoever we’ll actually see take on the role but we could very well have already been introduced to him.

With the second season having Edward Nygma already on his way to becoming The Riddler as well as introductions being made to Clayface and The Mad Hatter, they are going to have quite a few of Batman’s rogue gallery already making an appearance.

It shouldn’t be too surprising that the next season will introduce us to Batman’s most famous villain, especially with how much hype we’ve been getting from Jared Leto‘s Joker in the ‘Suicide Squad.’

Are you looking forward to the clown prince of crime being introduced on ‘Gotham’? Do you think Monaghan’s character will evolve into him or will we be introduced to someone else entirely?
