If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “You know, the ‘Predator’ alien would fit perfectly into NetherRealm Studio’s ‘Mortal Kombat’ universe,” then it’s time to get excited. While a ‘Predator’ alien (technically, the alien race is known as the “Yautja,” yes, I am a huge nerd) was announced as a DLC character a few months ago, it’s finally about to be released and will be playable soon. So far we don’t have an exact date, just “July,” as announced a few days ago on Twitter by Ed Boon, the co-creator of the ‘Mortal Kombat’ franchise. However, judging by the release dates of the previous DLC characters, (Jason Vorhees on May 5th and Tanya on June 2nd,) I’m going to go ahead and predict July 7th, since it’s the first Tuesday in July. There’s no guarantee that’s the correct date, but if I were a betting man, that’s where my money would be. Feel free to call me out and make fun of me if I’m wrong.

Included with the ‘Predator’ playable character, you’ll get three skins for your other characters: Commando Johnny Cage, Infrared Scorpion, and Carl Weathers as Jax. Jack won’t just be dressed like Carl Weathers’ character from the movie, Mr. Weathers’ is actually lending his likeness and voice to the character. I also find the symmetry of both characters having lost arms to be quite hilarious, which I bet is exactly what they were aiming for when they had this idea to start with. Well played, NetherRealms, well played.

I haven’t been able to find any information about the Predators movesets or fatalities, but NetherRealms did a pretty decent job of making the MKX version of Jason faithful to the movies, so it shouldn’t be unreasonable to expect a decent interpretation of the Predator as well. There’s already a character who can turn invisible, so I would expect at least that much for Predator, but that’s just speculation as well.

If you’ve already bought the Kombat Pack for MKX then you’ll be getting it as soon as it’s available, but you’ll have to wait a week or so if you want to buy it individually.

Let’s see, in ‘Mortal Kombat 9’ they had Freddy Krueger and in ‘MKX’ they have Jason. Now in ‘MKX’ we have the Predator. So when are we going to see the Xenomorph from ‘Alien’ in the ‘Mortal Kombat’ series? I can’t be the only one who wants this to happen, can I? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
