The fine folks over at Collider managed to snap an exclusive clip of the upcoming ‘Terminator Genisys’ movie. It’s a minute long and it’s titled “Sarah Connor Is on the Run from a Familiar Face” and it’s definitely full of the sort of action you’d expect from a Terminator movie.
As you can see, the protagonists are on the run from the cops while simultaneously fighting the Terminator-ized John Connor. We’ve seen parts of this scene already in the trailers and TV spots, but it’s interesting to see the extended version. Understandibly but frustratingly, it’s the middle of the scene, so it leaves you wanting more. Then again, that’s how they get butts in the seats.
To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this clip. Yeah, it’s awesome, but I also have to call BS on the physics. Call me pedant if you will, but I just can’t believe that a bus would flip over that much or that anybody could survive that sort of a crash. I love action movies and I am perfectly willing to suspend my disbelief, but it can only stretch so far before it snaps. Look at me, I’m so upset I’m mixing my metaphors.
And if I may be a bit snarky and even more pedantic, why is this clip titled “Sarah Connor Is on the Run from a Familiar Face”? If you’ve been paying attention to any of the trailers, TV spots, or movie posters then you know that she’s on the run from her future son-turned-Terminator. This is pre-pregnancy Sarah Connor we’re talking about. How in the world would her son from forty-some-odd years in the future be a familiar face to her? I can’t be the only pedant bothered by this, can I? Let me know in the comments if it bothers you too or if I’m just overthinking things and I need to shut my brain down for a while.
‘Terminator Genisys’ stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Byung-hun Lee, Courtney B. Vance, and J.K. Simmons and will open in theaters on July 1, 2015.
