‘Until Dawn’, the upcoming Playstation 4 exclusive horror game, now has a release date. Developed by Supermassive Games and being published through Sony, the game initially caught player’s attention with it’s terrifyingly interactive gameplay trailer back in December. Now players will get to play the game for themselves on August 25th of this year.

‘Until Dawn’, which will star Hayden Panettiere, Rami Malek, and Brett Dalton in leading roles, made this announcement in their latest launch trailer, which you can watch for yourself below. The trailer also features some new new gameplay footage you can check out.

In many ways, ‘Until Dawn’ is aiming to be the most cliche horror story out there, which is obvious from its plot summary: the game is about eight hormone ridden teenagers/young adults who decide to have a pleasant vacation in a isolated cabin until a masked psychopath decides to ruin it all by murdering them. Even the initial gameplay trailer featured a pretty blond girl running away from her attempted murderer with nothing but a towel around her, in the most troupe-est of horror troupes situations. But what sets this game apart is the emphasis on player choice. The players will have to make hundreds of split second decisions that can either save their character’s lives, or kill them, in the end offering no simple ending. Or, as their the trailer’s description puts it:

“Play as each of the eight characters and experience fear like you never have before. Every decision you make in your terrifying search for answers could mean the difference between life and death, but for whom? Your actions alone will decide who survives Until Dawn.”

The trailer also claims that those who pre-orders the game will get “the bonus chapter,” but doesn’t elaborate on what exactly that entails.

‘Until Dawn’ is set to release on August 25th, 2015. It is a Playstation 4 exclusive.
