20th Century Fox has released the second trailer for ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ and it pulls no punches in what will certainly end in an epic showdown between humans and apes – specifically one particular human and one particular ape.
The third installment of the critically acclaimed franchise takes place 2 years after the events of ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.’ As in the two films prior to this one, Caesar (Andy Serkis) is the focus of the film and this time, he comes head to head with The Colonel (Woody Harrelson), a high ranking military officer who has amassed his own army to destroy the Apes.
What makes the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise so appealing is that it is science fiction at its best. While entertaining, underneath the basic story of man vs apes, there are layers of socio-political commentary occurring in the guise of sci-fi. It will be interesting to see what message ‘War of the Planet of the Apes’ will bring especially with the current political climate the US is in.
‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ promises to be the darkest and most epic film in the trilogy. Check out the trailer below then let us know what you think!
