At long last, we have a full series pick up, and a name! (officially). While many had suspected ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ would be the name of the ‘Flash/Arrow’ spin-off, it was finally confirmed by the CW, who also released an official synopsis of the show (below). It confirms the idea that the team would be assembled by Rip Hunter from across time, allowing heroes like Hawkgirl (yet to be established in the CW DC Universe) to join the team in her prime, and for Sara Lance’s Black Canary to be on the team despite the fact that she is presently deceased. It’s an exciting move for the CW, and I can’t wait for the new show to premiere to see how it’s all going to fit together.

Also exciting is the news that we might see some cast members from ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ during the ‘Flash’ season finale this year, as Ciara Renee (who will be playing Hawkgirl) tweeted the following about her involvement in the episode. It’s not an unusual move for the CW, as we initially met Barry, Caitlyn and Cisco on ‘Arrow’ during the events leading up to the Season 2 finale, but it does get fans (and me!) even more excited for the upcoming ‘Flash’ finale. Well done CW!

And here’s the official synopsis for the series:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”).

Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
