The casting for AMC’s ‘Preacher‘ is really rounding out and the network has just announced that Derek Wilson (‘Rectify’,’Plan Z’) and Jamie Anne Allman (‘The Killing’,’Farm House’) will both be appearing in the pilot episode! The two actors will be joining a cast which consists of Dominic Cooper in the lead as Jesse Custer, Lucy Griffiths, Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun, and Ian Colletti. The series is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic by the same name and is being brought to the small screen by Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg.

In the series we’ll see Wilson as Donny Schenck who is a Civil War re-enactor in his spare time. Of course, he also just happens to be an “abusive thug who gets into altercations with Jesse Custer” even though he still shows up to church every Sunday. For Allman, she’ll be taking on the role of Betsy Schenck who is “a meek wife who appears to suffer beatings by the hand of her husband, Donny. When the Preacher checks up on her, though, she tells a different story.” With how their initial appearances are described, it’s hard to say if either one of these will end up being an ongoing character in the series.

Are you excited to see Allman and Wilson join the cast of ‘Preacher’? Do you think they’ll be on the show for more than the pilot or do these two characters sound as if they’ll have a limited run on the show?

Synopsis:

Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, and has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned his responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making him answer for his dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers —a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.
