After 15 years, directing 4 movies, and producing a few more beyond that, it seems Bryan Singer is ready to leave the ‘X-Men’ behind. According to source Umberto Gonzales’s Instagram account, it seems ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and ‘Wolverine 3’ will mark Singer’s final involvement in the ‘X-Men’ franchise, claiming that it will be the end of the ‘X-Men’ Universe started by Singer back in 2000. Check it out below:

Of particular concern to fans is what exactly is meant by the phrase, “…mark the end of the Bryan Singer X-MEN universe he started back in 2000.” Does this mean 20th Century Fox is rebooting the ‘X-Men’ franchise after ‘Apocalypse’ and ‘Wolverine 3?’ Or does it simply mean it will not longer be Singer’s universe as he will no longer be involved?

With Hugh Jackman announcing his departure from the franchise, as well as Jennifer Lawrence’s departure, it does seem like a good time to start anew, only problem is all the new cast members taking on previously established roles in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.‘ With new versions of Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler in the mix, it seemed as though the franchise was all set to move forward with new versions of their characters and new stories. With Marvel in the thick of their established universe, DC about to kick off their own, it would not seem prudent for 20th Century Fox to be starting from scratch once more with the ‘X-Men.’ But then again, as Hugh Jackman is the face of the franchise, his retirement from the role of Wolverine combined with Singer stepping down might herald that it is indeed the right moment for a reboot.
