If you have been eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ been you might be a little excited to hear that Tom Hardy (‘The Dark Knight Rises’,’Inception’) is actually signed on to do three more ‘Mad Max’ films! Yes, after 30 years of no new tales of Max it seems that the studio has three more stories set in this post apocalyptic wasteland! Well, assuming box office grosses warrant the follow ups that is.
What could be just as interesting though is what Hardy decided to compare the film to. Honestly you’ll have to read his description for yourself because you just can’t make this up!
“We were in the middle of nowhere, so far away from the studio system that [Warner Bros] can’t really see what’s going on, and just getting things to and from the set was a nightmare. We’d lose half a vehicle in sand and have to dig it out. It was just this unit in the middle of x-million square-kilometres of desert, and then this group of lunatics in leathers, like a really weird S&M party, or a Hell’s Angels convention. It was like Cirque du Soleil meets fucking Slipknot.”
Cirque du Soleil meets Slipknot. I mean the mind just freezes with that insane imagery in it and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen. In the same interview with Esquire the magazine states:
As for the pressure, Hardy says it’s enormous. “I’ve never been more excited and out of my comfort zone.” He’s seen the film, and says it’s “fucking unbelievable”. He’s attached to a further three Mad Max films, though as he says, “Everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived. Inevitably it’s a business.”
Speaking of trailers, we have a recent one to share with you!
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
I’m just thrilled with how insane this movie is going to be. Right now it’s hovering in my top five must see films this year and each new peak wants me to push it up even further on that list.
