He’s back, baby! Ever since last year’s announcement that the long-awaited follow up to ‘Army of Darkness’ would take the form of a television series, excitement has been building with each new announcement.

Titled ‘Ash vs Evil Dead,’ the series picks up years after the films and follows a version of Ash who is perhaps best described as an aging Lothario suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and survivor’s guilt. This is an Ash who has spent twenty years moving from trailer park to trailer park, working menial jobs by day and chasing skirts by night.

In addition to Ash himself, the series’ core cast will include Pablo Simon Bolivar, an optimistic immigrant who becomes something of a follower of Ash’s (a relationship that has been compared to that between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza) and Kelly Maxwell, described simply as a party girl who is running from her past when she gets dragged into Ash’s continuing struggle against the Deadites. Further rounding out the ensemble are Amanda Fisher, a former Michigan state trooper who believes Ash to be responsible for the grisly murder of her partner and a mysterious woman going by the name Ruby, who has come to believe that Ash is the cause of the Deadite plague and sets out to hunt him down.

Starz has released the first teaser for the series online, though it won’t make its on-air debut until the ‘Outlander’ premiere on April 4.

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ is being produced by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert. Set for a fall 2015 premiere on Starz, the pilot episode will be written and directed by Raimi himself, and in addition to Bruce Campbell will star Lucy Lawless, Jill Marie Jones, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo.

Gas up your chainsaw. This is sure to be quite the ride!
