Ever since the awesome test footage leaked and the project was made official last summer, updates for Tim Miller’s ‘Deadpool’ have been coming out fast an furious. Written by ‘Zombieland’ screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and featuring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc With The Mouth, the film from 20th Century Fox based on the fan favorite X-Men character will finally hit theaters next year. And just like every other X-Men film, it will feature a whole mess of new characters from the pages of Marvel Comics. So far, we know that T.J. Miller will play sidekick Weasel, MMA fighter Gina Carano is set to portray Angel Dust, and ‘Firefly’ alumnae Morena Baccarin has been cast as Wade Wilson’s love interest, but now reports say that a new mutant will join the party as well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, newcomer Brianna Hildebrand will join the cast of ‘Deadpool’ as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a teenage telepath with precognitive abilities. If you’re among those who are currently scratching their heads right now, you’re not the only one who doesn’t recall the young mutant from Genosha born Ellie Phimister. After all, she was created by Grant Morrison for his run on ‘New X-Men’ in 2001, but was then killed off shortly after that by a Sentinel invasion. Chances are that the character named after a Monster Magnet song will be re-imagined to some degree for her big screen debut. My guess is that she’ll be another test subject in the same experiments as Wilson that are referenced in the film’s synopsis, which you can find below:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Out of all the X-Men that have made it to a theater near you, Negasonic Teenage Warhead might be the most obscure. Do you have any ideas on how she’ll factor into ‘Deadpool’? Share your thoughts and theories in the comment section.

‘Deadpool’ starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
