With the sequel to ‘Pacific Rim‘ not being released until 2017, I’m happy to share that we’ll at least get an upcoming comic adaptation titled ‘Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift’ to tide us over for a while! Get ready for more Kaiju and Jaeger action as Legendary Pictures has announced that the four-issue series will be written by the film’s screenwriter Travis Beacham and Joshua Hale Fialkov (‘The Life After’). On artistic duties is Marcos Marz who has done some amazing work in the past on titles such as ‘Ms. Marvel‘ and ‘Batman Confidential.’ From what we know, the comic is set to follow in the footsteps of the graphic novel released in 2013, ‘Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero,’ which was a prequel to the movie that had introduced us to the men, women, and Jaegers that were featured in ‘Pacific Rim.’

What can we expect from the series? There isn’t much being released though Legendary Pictures says that we’ll all be pretty interested as we’ll be able to check out “Jaegers never before seen in combat, squaring off against all-new Kaiju creatures.” New Jaegers AND Kaiju? Sounds like a fun giant monster battle just waiting to happen! The series is set to launch this November and not only do I wish that it would come sooner, but I wish that we had more than 4 issues in store for us.

Ideally I would like more content that takes place between the two films much like the ‘Pacific Rim’ animated series that is in the works. However, with the right story and pacing I wouldn’t mind more back story to our characters.

Actually now that I think about it, I haven’t heard much lately on the animated series front and hope that it is still happening.

As an added bonus, Legendary Pictures is offering up an original piece of artwork and other prizes from ‘Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift’ which you can enter to win over at PacificRimComicArt.com.

Are you looking forward to more tales set in the world of ‘Pacific Rim’? Is the invasion by the Kaiju that caused our need for Jaegers something you are interested in exploring or would you prefer to see what happened after the first film?
