The publicity team for ‘Terminator: Genisys‘ is doing a great job at building a story through their trailers that people may actually want to see this. In the very first one, they appealed to our nostalgia by showing us some familiar imagery from the classic series that appears in Alan Taylor’s upcoming film. Then during the Super Bowl, we were introduced to the new threat coming our way. And now the latest commercial spotlights Oscar-winning actor J.K. Simmons, who is justifiably dumb-founded by this invasion of killer robots, as he comes face to face with Emilia Clarke’s Sarah Connor.

We now have a brand new extended TV spot for ‘Terminator: Genisys’ that acts as our first introduction to Simmons’ character. Also, we’re seeing some humor break through all the hardcore action and the explosions and the catchphrases. Check out the newest piece of promotional material for the film that’s looking to revitalize the ‘Terminator’ franchise in the same way that ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ did for ‘X-Men’ after their constant missteps, followed by the official synopsis of the movie:

The year is 2029. John Connor, leader of the resistance continues the war against the machines. At the Los Angeles offensive, John’s fears of the unknown future begin to emerge when TECOM spies reveal a new plot by SkyNet that will attack him from both fronts; past and future, and will ultimately change warfare forever.

What do you think about the new TV spot for ‘Terminator: Genisys’? What are your first impressions of J.K. Simmons’ character in this world? Let us know in the comment section.

‘Terminator Genisys’ starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Byung-hun Lee, Courtney B. Vance, and J.K. Simmons hits theaters on July 1, 2015.
