DONTNOD Entertainment has released a launch trailer for the first episode of their episodic graphic adventure series entitled ‘Life is Strange’.

The launch trailer episode gives players a taste of the drama-focused storyline featured in ‘Life is Strange.’ With teenaged growing pains and time manipulating powers abound in the midst of some dramatic cinematic gameplay, gamers familiar with titles from Telltale Games might want to look into this one.

The first episode of ‘Life is Strange’, entitled Chrysalis, puts players in the shoes of senior photography student Maxine Caulfield, who has returned to her hometown of Arcadia Bay, Oregon after five years of absence. As she reunites with her old best friend Chloe Price, Maxine soon finds that she has the ability to rewind time after a struggle that nearly ends Chloe’s life. What follows throws both Maxine and Chloe into a much darker side of Arcadia Bay, as they begin to unravel the city’s hidden secrets and the truth behind the disappearance of a girl named Rachel Amber, an old friend of Chloe’s.

Much like games like ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Heavy Rain,’ the main gameplay in ‘Life is Strange’ put heavy emphasis on dialogue choices and interactive puzzles. But one of the major focuses is Maxine’s time manipulation abilities. Using her abilities, players can have Maxine rewind time to go back and redo any previous actions or dialogue choices done past a checkpoint. However, whatever choices made will alter and affect the story’s outcome.

Announced only this past August, ‘Life is Strange’ is developed by DONTNOD Entertainment, the same studio behind 2013’s ‘Remember Me’. The game has been in development since April 2013. Including its first episode, the series will feature a total of five episodes.

The first episode of ‘Life is Strange’ is currently available now for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
