An interesting new rumor has Michael Shannon (‘Boardwalk Empire’,’Take Shelter’) showing up in the upcoming ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ with an original role. While we already know how he ended up at the closure of ‘Man of Steel,’ it looks as if he may be making a comeback. One rumor already had Lexcorp getting their hand on Zod’s body in the film while another mentions that Doomsday will make an appearance.

The latest news that we’re going to be sharing with you is linking those two events and if true, could mean spoilers, so continue reading at your own risk!

What if we see Shannon returning to reprise his role not as Zod, but with Luthor bringing Zod back as Doomsday?

Wait a sec, back up. What?!

The current rumor now has Lex Luthor having obtained Zod’s body to experiment on to find Superman’s weakness. While experimenting he triggers the Doomsday genome and Zod becomes an undead murdering monster.

Do remember at this point we’re just reporting on a rumor. To expand on this, there is no word if Luthor got Zod’s body through government contracts or if he stole the corpse. That means no word if the government wants to know Superman’s weakness or if Luthor did this from his hatred for the last son of Krypton.

In the comics, Doomsday was an ancient experiment by a Kyptonian scientist who was trying to create the ultimate killing machine. He succeeded, only his plan backfired and Doomsday killed him. After causing destruction though the universe, the creature was finally defeated. Thinking it dead, those who bested Doomsday sent him into space. Eventually the creature crashed into the Earth and finally awakened to go on a new mass killing spree. Doomsday was finally defeated though Superman gave his life in the process.

What do you think about Zod coming back to be one of Superman’s greatest villains and most likely not introducing him to do the Death of Superman story line? Are you looking forward to seeing the two duke it out once more on screen or is this just a bad idea? Share your thoughts below!
