The next attempt to capitalize on the YA genre is here and we’ve got the first promo poster and some set videos for ‘Vampire Academy’ to share with you. These are in addition to the teaser trailer from 2 months ago so they should start giving an idea of what the movie will actually be about. The first movie will be based on the first of a 6 book series that is released. So if the film does good at the box office there’s a good chance we’ll see at least 5 more, 6 if the last book is split into 2 novels like everything else under the sun is these days.

The film will star Zoey Deutch (‘Beautiful Creatures‘) as Rose Hathaway on the left and Lucy Fry who stars as Lissa on the right. It’s being directed by Mark Waters (‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’), was written by Daniel Waters (‘Batman Returns’) and the original novels were written by Richelle Mead. While ‘Twilight’ gave the young adult world a boost in sales the world round not every movie that comes out in the genre does well as ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones‘ has shown where low box office sales have actually delayed a sequel.

Check out the featurettes below and let us know if you think ‘Vampire Academy’ makes the grade or fail as so many others have in the genre since ‘The Twilight Saga’ ended?

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir: half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely without our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.

Starring Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky, Gabriel Byrne, Sarah Hyland, Joely Richardson, Cameron Monaghan, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy and Ashley Charles, Vampire Academy opens February 14, 2014.
