The creative team behind ‘Arrow’ is firing on all cylinders following the show’s return last week, and nothing seems to have the producers and writers (and the fans for that matter) more excited than the re-introduction of the Black Canary with Laurel Lance behind the mask. Last week’s premiere, ‘Left Behind,’ gave us our first glimpse of Laurel in costume doing her thing, but this week’s episode promises to show a lot more of the new Black Canary, as she struggles to prove herself to Team Arrow despite their warnings that she is not nearly trained enough and her own insecurities about her fighting prowess.
It’s been a long journey for Laurel on ‘Arrow,’ and when her sister Sara first appeared as the Black Canary, many fans assumed (and with good reason), that the show was going to go against the comic books and have Sara Lance, not Laurel, be the super-heroine. The fact that the show decided to play the long game with Laurel’s transformation is a testament to smart writing and faith in both fans and the show, and it is great to see that faith finally pay off.

“Arsenal and Diggle confront Laurel about trying to step into her sister’s shoes and warn her to stop before she gets herself killed. However, when Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones) kidnaps the city’s Aldermen and threatens to kill them all unless the police evacuate The Glades, it’s all suits on deck. Meanwhile, Ray steps in to help Lance and the police force fight Brick, showing Felicity a new side of her boss. Malcolm tells Thea that Ra’s al Ghul is after him and his family and they must leave town immediately.”
