It looks like M. Night Shyamalan’s event series ‘Wayward Pines‘ has finally found a release date on Fox for May 14, 2015! Shyamalan is on board for the show as the executive producer. I have to say his work in producing has far out-shined what he has directed in recent years so mixing that thought in with the concept of the show has me excited. With mini-series returning to be quite popular these days, I’m glad that we’re seeing more of these fall into the genres that we love in horror and science fiction.

‘Wayward Pines’ is based off of the novel ‘Pines’ by Blake Crouch and boasts a strong cast and an interesting premise. When it was originally ordered, Fox gave it a 10-episode run. The novel however is the first in a trilogy so if it takes off, we may see more to come down the line.

The series promises to be ‘Twin Peaks’-esque and we’ll be following a secret service agent who is trying to track down two missing federal agents. Only when he gets to town, an accident leaves him without his phone or credentials. Wonderful. Things get worse as no one believes that he is with the Secret Service, he is unable to call out of the town, and giant electric fences seem to surround it keeping anyone from leaving or getting in.

What exactly is going on here? That is what we’ll have to watch (or, read) to find out!

You can check out the trailer followed by the official synopsis of the series below:

Synopsis:

Based on the best-selling novel, “Pines,” by Blake Crouch, and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs,”), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending new thriller in which nothing is what it seems. Secret Service agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

Wayward Pines premieres on Fox on May 14th, 2015 @9 pm EST.
