There are a lot of varied opinions on next year’s ‘Fantastic Four‘ film and if this new synopsis is the official one, it really isn’t going to help either side of the debate. While we haven’t seen it in any official press announcements or anywhere else yet, a synopsis has showed up on Rotten Tomatoes and credits Fox for the information. Could they have been given the synopsis early? Quite possibly, though it seems a little strange that one of the top movie review sites out there would have it before any media outlets or prior to Fox themselves revealing it to the public. Especially since it seems that a trailer for Josh Trank’s and Simon Kinberg’s stab at Marvel’s First Family seems to be in limbo and the film is set to drop next year.
Still, here is what they have for the synopsis, let’s take a gander shall we?
Synopsis:
THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox
No word yet if this synopsis is accurate or like the previously released plot rumor, “100% Bullsh*t”
With an alternate universe being in the mix, my guess is it’ll be an introduction to The Negative Zone. Also with the four of them described as outsiders, I’m curious how that will play into things as I can see them being thought of as outsiders after they get their powers, but if they feel that way before hand it could be how “a former friend turned enemy” has them in league with Doom somehow.
Either way, I’m still not sold. How about you though? I know we can’t make a real judgement until at least a ‘Fantastic Four’ trailer is released, but what are your thoughts on this new take on the ‘Fantastic Four’ so far?
