With ‘Fantastic Four‘ on the way, many have been wondering why there hasn’t been any footage released from the film. Well, it looks as if the studio wants to make sure it’s perfect for audiences before we get a look at it. That is going to be hard to do with a lot of the early negative press that the movie has been getting. Of course, how many people honestly thought ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ was going to be one of their best movies ever when it was first announced? At the time for many it was “Guardians who?” Now it is all about the “Pelvic Sorcery.” Any Marvel character has a good chance on the big screen and this is Fox’s chance to do Marvel’s first family justice, even if Marvel is cancelling the comic series.

According to producer Simon Kinberg:

“We’re putting it together now, and one of the important things, because this Fantastic Four is a reboot, and is such a different tonality and vibe from those other films, we want to make sure that the first thing we put out really expresses the voice of the movie, and isn’t compromised by not having visual effects ready, or anything like that.”

Kinsberg knows a ‘Fantastic Four’ movie is a hard sell after the lackluster response from the first two films and the high expectations that the success of the ‘X-Men’ have given. Not only that, but early leaked information has painted a negative view of the picture for many. I won’t lie when I say that I’m not fully happy with everything that I’ve heard about the film, but I’m still willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, at least until the first trailer is released.

That being said, Fox is on a roll with their ‘X-Men’ movies but with their clear intent to make a more cinematic universe in the style that Marvel has done, the studio really needs to find a way to tie their upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot into it. This would allow them to include a ton of additional characters as well as have galactic escapades with the Skrull, the Shi’ar, the Silver Surfer, Galactus, and more! They have the rights to make a cosmic universe that could compete with Marvel’s, they just have to properly execute it.

What do you think? Is the lack of early footage due to just putting on the finishing touches or are they rightfully scared to show us anything at this point? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
