CD Projekt RED’s ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ has just received a brand new five-minute developer diary showing off the vast open-world of the upcoming action fantasy RPG.

Topics covered in the newest developer diary include the hundreds of interactable points of interest and quests placed in the game, the numerous kinds of monsters that players can hunt, as well as the game’s various modes of transportation such as horseback and boats.

As the newest entry in the long running ‘The Witcher’ franchise, ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ takes places where the second one left off with main protagonist Geralt embarking on a personal quest after all those who sought to use him are finally gone. However, his new mission comes during dark times as a mysterious otherworldly army known as the Wild Hunt invades the Northern Kingdoms. With madness and death soiling the lands as a result of this, Geralt must rise up to the challenge for only he has the key to stopping the cataclysmic rampage of the Wild Hunt.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ will be a completely open world game. Previous games have always had non-linear story progression based on player choice, but never have their worlds had as vast of a scope from what is described in the game’s new developer dairy. With the intent to create a natural world with locations and occurrences that react to the player, CD Projekt RED seems to be aspiring towards crafting one of the most dynamic open worlds in the genre in a long time. Only time will tell if ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ can meet the high expectations of the series’ fans and gamers.

‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ will be available on February 24 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
