Matt Ryan is reprising his fan favorite role as mystic John Constantine for a two-episode arc on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’.  These episodes won’t air until next year, when the show returns from its winter hiatus, but it appears that it is filming now, judging by this teasing image that Ryan tweeted out:

Don’t expect too many spoilers just yet, since ‘Legends’ is only up to its fourth new episode.  But executive Phil Klemmer did offer a bit of insight into how Constantine will fit in with the ‘Legends’.

“His appearance in episode 310 will involve the following: a revisiting of Arrow season four and the events following that season’s finale episode; a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on Legends — the name we’ve only heard whispered until now Mallus; some hot sex — something that has been in short supply on the Waverider thus far in season three; and Damien Darhk (Neil McDonough), because how can you do an episode about dark magic and not have Damien Darhk? More than anything, the episode promises to be scary as you know what — tonally it’s The Exorcist meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Demonic possession in a mental institution, what’s not to love?”

Ryan first played John Constantine on his own NBC series (called, coincidentally enough, ‘Constantine’) in 2014-15, but didn’t deliver strong enough ratings to return for a second season.  But since then, Ryan has become synonymous with the role of DC’s boozy sorcerer, first returning for the ‘Arrow’ episode ‘Haunted’ before being announced as starring in his own animated series on The CW Seed.  Though not connected, Ryan also voiced Constantine in the animated straight-to-video movie ‘Justice League Dark’.

Are you excited to see Ryan’s Constantine again on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’?
