This past weekend, I had the immense pleasure of attending this year’s Baltimore Comic Con. Because it’s one of the remaining “big” conventions that maintains a focus on comic books and their creators, I always enjoy riding down I-95 to the Inner Harbor for a few days to embrace the medium that seems to be thriving as more and more film and television adaptations of our favorite Marvel, DC, and independent storylines emerge every day.
Though I spent the majority of my time wandering the floor to talk to some of my favorite writers and artists, I continued ScienceFiction.com’s tradition of spotlighting some excellent cosplayers from the cons that we attend. So keeping in line with our past coverage from Wizard World, Dragon Con, San Diego Comic Con, and New York Comic Con, here are just a few of the coolest, most creative costumes found on the floor of BCC2014 over the course of the con’s three days:
As you can see, there were a ton of great comic book characters out and about at the Baltimore Convention Center last weekend, but there were a few other fandoms making representing at the con such as Disney, GWAR, KISS, and Firefly. And there were cosplayers of all ages, which isn’t always the case, so it was refreshing to see more of a family vibe to some of the guests donning costumes this year, especially when it came to the little ones dressing up as their favorite heroes (and in some cases, villains).
While there are so many awesome cosplays in this collection, I have to say that my favorite one is Silk, the newest cast member of ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ that was introduced during Dan Slott’s ‘Original Sin’ tie-ins. If you happen to follow my comic book reviews, then you know how much of a fan of that character I am, so you can imagine how stoked I was to see Cindy Moon in the flesh.
What do you think of this collection of cosplay photos from this year’s Baltimore Comic Con? Do you have a favorite among them? Were you at the con and spotted some great costumes that I may have missed? Let us know in the comments below.
