We’ve been hearing a lot of mixed reports on what we’ll see in ‘Dracula Untold,’ though the opening from the latest trailer tells me how this could be described as a family fantasy film. However, this label isn’t necessarily bad if it is moving the plot forward in the right direction. While not giving us quite the bloodthirsty image fitting for Vlad the Impaler, it is still a far cry from the sparkly creatures that try to pass as vampires these days.

Let’s check out the trailer below.

I’m a little torn on this trailer. On the one hand it looks good and I appreciate how they are turning Vlad into a vampire from a man. However, I’m just not sure I like the re-writes from his common origin which is slightly more violent. This could have made a good vampire film on its own without mentioning Dracula, but without being a new origin story for the original vampire, would this have even caught our attention?

What do you think of the new footage from the film? Do you think their take on creating one of the most prolific horror monsters of all time from a family fantasy film is the way to go? Are you planning to check out the movie when it is released this Fall? Share your thoughts below.
