After the success of her character in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and the Marvel One-Shot accompanying ‘Iron Man 3,’ Hayley Atwell is bringing Agent Peggy Carter to television with ‘Agent Carter’ this winter on ABC. Besides the S.H.I.E.L.D. pioneer returning for the new series, Dominic Cooper is said to be reprising his role as Howard Stark as well. But now we have word about a few brand new characters making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts.
It was shared recently that ‘One Tree Hill’ star Chad Michael Murray and ‘Dollhouse’ alum Enver Gjokaj have landed spots as series regulars on Atwell’s upcoming drama from showrunners Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas that picks up a year after Captain America was put on ice. Murray will play Agent Jack Thompson and Gjokaj appears as Agent Daniel Sousa, both of whom Agent Carter meets in New York City when she joins S.H.I.E.L.D. predecessor, the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR).
This actually isn’t the first time that Gjokaj has popped up in a Marvel Studios production. Previously, the actor who got his big break thanks to ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ executive producers Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen landed a minor role in ‘The Avengers’ as a young cop.
Currently, the premiere date for ‘Agent Carter’ has not been set, though it will takeover the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ timeslot on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. when it does debut. But for more information on the next Marvel TV show, check out the official synopsis below:
It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.
