Without further adieu, let’s jump right into the toy news for the week of August 19th, 2014!

Hot Toys Defending Arkham

While they’ve been hyping their upcoming event ‘Stark Week’ with Iron Man promotions non-stop across various social networks, Hot Toys recently announced an all new figure of your other favorite billionaire playboy superhero, Batman! This new figure is based on the Dark Knight’s appearance in the video game ‘Batman: Arkham City’ and, as usual, is super detailed! He comes with a slew of cool Batman centric accessories straight out of the game! He also includes several pairs of alternate hands and two alternate lower faces for his cowl so your figure can convey different expressions without having to swap out the entire head! Celebrate the Caped Crusader’s 75th Anniversary in style with this sweet new 1:6th scale figure from Hot Toys! The full release from Hot Toys is below:

“You’re not safe here. No one is.” Batman Arkham City has been a very popular video game among fans since its debut! The narrative, character, world designs, and game play have all contributed to the game’s success. Many Batman fans have been craving for the collectible figure from the video game since the release of Hot Toys’ teaser photos.

As a celebration for Batman’s 75th anniversary, Hot Toys is pleased to officially introduce the Batman: Arkham City: 1/6th scale Batman Collectible Figure. The collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Batman from the game featuring a newly developed masked head sculpt with 2 interchangeable lower faces, newly sculpted muscular body and Batsuit, and detailed weapons.

Fans of “Bats” don’t miss out on pre-ordering this amazing Collectible Figure!

DC Total Heroes Ultra Dead

While the retail toyline itself has sold well enough, it seems that the demand for the online only ‘Ultra’ figures from Mattel’s DC Comics Total Heroes line just isn’t there, and the deluxe figures will be coming to an end after the release of the final two figures, Batman Beyond and Firestorm, later this year. In a post from the MattyCollector message boards, one user inquired “Will there be any Total Heroes Ultra figures on Matty in 2015? I was expecting something at SDCC.”, only to get the reply from Mattel spokesman ToyGuru confirming the worst.

“No, the line has not sold well enough for a 2015 line and will conclude with Firestorm. We can only make figures when there are enough customers to buy them!”- Toy Guru

The regular retail line for DC Total Heroes will continue to release as planned, bringing fans a new 6” scale take on most of your favorite DC Comics heroes and villains. The ‘Ultra’ figures had been offered exclusively online through MatteyCollector.com, usually were characters that might not sell as well at retail, and came jam packed with extras like additional hands, weaponry and alternate heads! There were only five figures in total offered from the ‘Ultra’ series, Green Lantern Corps-Man (featuring swappable John Stewart, Tomar Re, and Green Man heads!), Black Manta, Batman Beyond, Firestorm, and the SDCC Exclusive Cyborg.

Toys R Us Aisles to Live In Sin

Robert Rodriguez’s latest flick, ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ is hitting theaters this weekend, and just in time for the comic book movie sequel, Diamond Select is releasing a ToyS R Us exclusive series of figures based on the characters! While these versions are based on the 2005 film ‘Sin City’, these exclusive ‘All Color’ editions of DST’s new Sin City Select line will be an awesome new addition to any fan’s collection! So far DST has revealed all color versions of Marv and Hartigan hitting Toys R Us stores now, while Nancy has been announced but not revealed as to where and when we can expect to find her! The standard black and white versions of these figures will be available as a wide release at most retail stores that sell DST product. Here’s the full release from DST below:

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is headed to theaters, and the first assortment of Sin City Select action figures, based on the original 2005 feature film, is in stores now. Captured in the film’s trademark black-and-white, main characters Marv, Hartigan and Nancy each feature multiple points of articulation, multiple accessories and a detailed diorama base. And now Diamond Select Toys is proud to announce a pair of exclusive figures only available at Toys “R” Us!

For those who prefer their neo-noir in living color, Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Hartigan (Bruce Willis) are now a pair of full-color action figures in Toys “R” Us stores. Packaged in more streamlined packaging, with smaller street bases, Marv and Hartigan each include their unique accessories and the same high level of articulation. Both the black-and-white Select figures and color Toys “R” Us figures were sculpted by Jean St. Jean.
