While the ‘Rosemary’s Baby‘ mini-series didn’t get the blockbuster ratings NBC had hoped, it did appear to have been good enough for the network to take on another attempt at bringing a movie starring Satan to the small screen. This time it’s with ‘The Devil’s Advocate.’ The original film was released in 1997 and starred Keanu Reeves, Al Pacino, and Charlize Theron which gave us a young lawyer being tempted by the devil to leave behind his life of doing good in the world of law for power and money. He only had to trade his soul to make it work.

The series is going to be produced by John Wells (‘Shameless’, ‘ER’) and Arnold Kopelson (‘Se7en’, ‘Platoon’) who was part of the original film. The script is being handled by Matt Venne (‘Bag of Bones’, ‘Fright Night 2‘) who has primarily worked on horror projects to date. At this time, there is no set casting though I hope that they are able to find a truly larger than life personality for the devil in this one.

The series itself has not yet received a series order from NBC though it will be highly likely that it will as they’ve given Warner Brothers a put pilot commitment for the project.

Right now is a great time for horror on television, though I am a little weary of all of the reboots being made. I was a fan of ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ though not enough where I couldn’t see it being rebooted and think of it as sacrilege. I’m just a little sick of seeing every property being redone instead of new ideas being explored.

Do you think ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ has potential for a long running series? Who would you like to see cast in the lead roles? What sin do you think the devil should use to attempt to ensnare the lead? Share your thoughts below!
