After an endless amount of teasing, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has finally confirmed that he’ll be in the DC Entertainment film ‘Shazam.’ This shouldn’t come as a surprise as he recently stated that the DC project he was working involved “the power of Superman… and it’s not Green Lantern, by the way… he can throw down… just say the word, that’s all I’m gonna say.”

I mean, let’s be honest. We already knew he had the part if that statement was any indication. However, unlike previous promotions of ‘Hercules’ where he has been asked the question, this time he has finally been a little more specific. Although Johnson has now officially clarified he’s attached to a ‘Shazam’ film, hewon’t reveal what what role he will have in it. Will he be Shazam or his nemesis Black Adam? As he stated before, “I’ve always been a fan of anti-heroes.” Knowing that, this movie could easily use the more modern anti-hero take of Black Adam.

Regardless of the role he takes, Johnson assures he will be “putting my heart and soul and my bones” in the project, though we can safely say that he’s done that in all of his movies regardless of the size of his role.

With at least nine unannounced movies on the release block between 2016-2020 it is hard to pin down exactly when we’ll be seeing Johnson decked out as a super hero. Regardless, with him in a cape, ‘Shazam’ is one movie that I’ll be interested to see regardless of how ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ ends up being on the big screen and how worried many of us are on the cinematic universe that DC and Warner Bros. are about to create.
