Recently, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ has announced a number of new cast members joining the ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among them are ‘Twin Peaks’ star Kyle MacLachlan and Lucy Lawless of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ fame, but today the House of Ideas has revealed who will be playing fan favorite character Barbra Morse, the agent and hero known as Mockingbird.

Back at the show’s panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Patton Oswalt (who was playing brothers Agents Billy and Sam Koenig) mentioned that Morse was in, meaning that she would be popping up at some point in the second season of the first live-action television series to take place in the MCU. Now while we don’t know how much of her comic book mythology will carry over onto the show, such as her involvement with Hawkeye, we do know the actress who will be stepping into the boots and batons of the S.H.I.E.L.D. superspy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adrianne Palicki will play Agent Bobbi Morse in the fifth episode of the upcoming second season of the series with potential to return. The report indicates that the ‘Friday Night Lights’ and ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ star might not be an ally of Agent Coulson and the gang right away, so keep your eyes peeled for potential May vs. Morse action when the character makes her debut.

Palicki is notably a comic book fan and has been involved in several comic projects in the past. While she played Nadia in WB’s Aquaman pilot and Kara in ‘Smallville’, the most prominent role that the actress has taken on in this genre is her run as Wonder Woman in David E. Kelly’s NBC pilot for the DC heroine. Unfortunately, that show never got off the ground, but now she’ll finally get her chance to play a superhero thanks to Marvel.

As excited as I was before that Mockingbird is making her way to the MCU, I’m even more stoked that she’ll be played by Adrianne Palicki. She has certainly proved that she can kick some ass in the ‘G.I. Joe’ films, but it’ll be great to see what she can do as a Marvel hero. But what do you think about the casting? Are you in favor of the actress joining ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Do you think that she’ll pull off Bobbi Morse? And do you think her appearance will bring around Clint Barton to the small screen? Sound off in the comments below.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Chloe Bennet, and Clark Gregg returns on Tuesday, September 23rd at 9:00pm on ABC.
