It worked for ‘Buffy’‘Supernatural’ showrunner Jeremy Carver revealed that in the upcoming season, the long-running CW hit will celebrate its 200th episode… in style!  That episode will be a musical!

Well, “musical-ish” Carver expressed at the 2014 Summer TCA Press Tour.  “I think it’ll be one of the more amusing and engaging episodes we’ve done in a while. I think we can safely call this a meta episode.  We’re going pretty meta. I would just describe it as something of a love letter to our fans and there will be songs.”

Of course the series is already heavily drenched in music.  Dean, played by Jensen Ackles, is a huge fan of classic rock and music from that genre appears in nearly every episode.

The bigger question is will the episode simply have a lot of music in it or will the stars, Ackles and Jared Padalecki actually be doing the singing?  And… are they any good?

Carver laughs and “I cannot comment any further than that.”  And as far as dancing, he says that that could “Potentially,” play a part.  But he stressed that there would definitely be more than one song.

I’m voting for Dean and Castiel doing a cover of “Endless Love” but that’s just me.  (Well, just me and everyone on Tumblr.)  Maybe Charlie and Dorothy could return and sing “For Good” from ‘Wicked’?

Jensen of course has proven he’s got quite a few moves himself and can lip sync so well he could win ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’.  Check out his interpretation of ‘Eye of the Tiger’ below:

Following the ‘Buffy’ episode “Once More With Feeling”, several other shows also did musical episodes, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Scrubs’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ (coincidentally, starring Allison Hannigan, who barely appeared in the ‘Buffy’ episode stating that she couldn’t sing) and ‘Fringe’.

The musical 200th episode of ‘Supernatural’ will be the fifth episode of this upcoming 10th season.

The 10th season of ‘Supernatural’ will premiere on Tuesday, October 7 at 9 pm ET/PT on The CW.
