Syfy’s ‘Z Nation’ has never generated a attention that AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has, but it also doesn’t take the same level of heat.  Even so, it has quietly turned in four seasons, garnered its own legion of fans and now, it’s coming back for more.  Following a recent wave of cancellations of Syfy original series including ‘Blood Drive’, ‘Dark Matter’ and ‘Killjoys’, the network has ordered a fifth season on ‘Z Nation’.

The announcement was made via producer David Michael Latt’s Twitter account:

‘Z Nation’ revolves around Alvin Murphy (played by Keith Allan), a former prisoner who is immune to the man-made zombie virus that has ravaged the world, even though he has physically deteriorated to resemble a zombie.  He can also somehow control zombies and humans that he bites.  A ragtag group must escort him from New York to a Center For Disease Control lab in California.  The cast also includes Kellita Smith as Lt. Roberta Warren, DJ Qualls as Simon “Citizen Z” Cruller, Anastasia Baranova as Addison Grace “Addy” Carver, Russell Hodgkinson as Steven “Doc” Beck, Nat Zang as Tomas “10K”, Tara Holt as Lucy Murphy, Joseph Gatt as The Man, Sydney Viengluang as Sun Mei, Ramona Young as Kaya, Natalie Jongjaroenlarp as Red, Holden Goyette as “Nature Boy”/5K, Gracie Gillam as Sgt. Lilley and Henry Rollins as Lt. Mueller.

The Season Four finale just aired, so there is no date yet given for its return.

Are you a fan of ‘Z Nation’?  Are you glad it’s coming back for a fifth season?
