It’s here!  The first official trailer for ‘Dracula Untold‘, the dramatic origin story of the famous vampire king, directed by newcomer Gary Shore and starring Luke Evans in the title role.  The film is a departure from the usual Victorian era of most other Dracula adaptations, but seeing as how the Count is immortal, it makes sense that his origin could have taken place much earlier.  And the success of ‘Game of Thrones‘ could have influenced this medieval take.

The clip opens with Vlad Tepes, the man who would become one of the most horrific monsters in history.  Thus far, little has been released concerning this film.  The synopsis reads simply “The origin story of the man who becomes Dracula.”

The clip manages to convey a lot of action and drama.  So far it looks pretty atmospheric and intense.  Check it out below:

Vlad Tepes already seems like a pretty killer badass.  It doesn’t seem like he even has to resort to basically selling his humanity to protect his family.  I’m sure it will become more clear as the movie approaches and more footage is released.

Not surprisingly, the film opens just before Halloween.  Are you interested in a fresh origin for Dracula?

‘Dracula Untold’ stars Luke Evans, Sarah Gadon, Diarmaid Murtaugh, Dominic Cooper, Samantha Barks, and more! It is directed by Gary Shore and is set to be released on October 17th, 2014!
