I feel that this just recently happened but now it seems we’re already getting a new take on ‘Scooby-Doo’ from Warner Brothers! If it is one thing we can count on these days, it is a reboot of anything from the childhoods of those who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. There is nothing that spells out cashing in quite like doing a reboot after a reboot (after a reboot after ‘Inception‘). How long until we see a reboot of a movie within a reboot?! With the success of ‘Spider-Man’ and every other franchise under the sun getting a fresh start, this really doesn’t feel surprising.

The new film looks to have Randall Green in charge but no other details on a plot, release date, or any casting having been lined up quite yet.

If you think this reboot seems as quick as I do, you have to remember that it has actually been ten years since the last film. ‘Scooby-Doo’ was released in 2002 and the follow up ‘Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed’ was actually released back in 2004. These films by Raja Gosnell starred Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Isla Fisher. The first of the two films was able to gross over $270 million worldwide with the sequel grossing over $180 million at the box office. Those aren’t numbers that you’d tend to want to ignore and there are always new kids to enjoy new children’s movies. (And plenty of adults who want to relive their own childhoods.)

Are you ready for a new take on ‘Scooby-Doo’? Do you think they will end up giving us the same kind of zany antics that the cartoons made so popular or will they be trying to take a darker and modern take as has become so popular in every form of media these days? Do you have any dream casting choices for the parts? Will we get a CGi or real dog? Share your thoughts below while I grab myself a Scooby snack.
