After a harsh winter, the weather is finally starting to ease up in parts of the United States. And that nice weather indicates that we’re getting closer to the summer and the summer movie season. One of the most anticipated films that falls into that category is ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, and while it is the most mysterious and unknown Marvel property to make it’s way to the big screen, fans started to get excited when the first trailer dropped back in February. Now, more information has been slowly making it’s way out into the world, like the latest details from director James Gunn.

Ever since Thanos’ appearance in the post-credits scene of ‘The Avengers’, many people thought that Phase Two would lead to a showdown with the Mad Titan and the Infinity Gauntlet. However, Joss Whedon’s follow up to the biggest superhero movie of all time will actually feature Ultron, one of the most feared villains of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. But that doesn’t mean that the intergalactic warlord won’t have a presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In his recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn didn’t get into too many specific, but shared that a motion-capture Thanos would appear in his upcoming Phase Two film as “the head of the snake”. He went on to say that the movie is “definitely connected to ‘Avengers 3’.”

Though he was tight-lipped about the villain’s involvement in ‘Guardians’ and what part this team plays in the future of the Marvel’s movies, he did explain the origins of a few characters in the movie that have a connection to Thanos:

“[Star-Lord] was abducted from Earth (Missouri) at age 8 and raised in a group of thieves and smuggles called the Ravagers. He’s good with the ladies and a little bit of a dick and very lucky. Thanos slaughtered [Gamora’s] family and Nebula’s, then raised them together as siblings. They were bio engineered to become living weapons, so he’s really good at killing people.”

Finally, along with the director’s comments, a few photos were released with the article offering some new looks at the film’s stars from the movie and behind the scenes. You can check them all out in the gallery below:

Although ‘The Avengers 3’ is still a way away, it looks like the seeds will start growing when ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ debuts later this summer.
