Proving once more that if the CW loves an actor/actress they will hire them again and again, the network has dipped into their pool of actresses who have previously appeared on their shows and have signed on Melissa Roxburgh as the lead actress for the new ‘Supernatural’ spinoff series.

This is a return to home of sorts for Roxburgh as one of her first acting jobs was on ‘Supernatural’ back in 2012 in the Season 7 episode ‘Time After Time’.  She has also appeared in the network’s breakout series ‘Arrow’ last year as Blake. On the big screen, Roxburgh starred in ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules’ and ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days’.

Now she takes the lead in the renamed ‘Supernatural’ spinoff series ‘Supernatural: Bloodlines’ (formally known as ‘Supernatural: Tribes’). Roxburgh will play Violet, a member of a powerful werewolf pack who hides her beasty side as she is in love with family rival David Hayden (played by Nathaniel Buzolic) who happens to be a shape shifter but has turned his back on this monster life and has lived as a human for many years. Unbeknownst to him (at least for now), corner Violet and her inner big bad wolf breaks free.

Besides Buzolic, Roxburgh joins Lucien Laviscount, Sean Faris, Danielle Savre and Stephen Marines.

It won’t be too long before we see what we can expect from ‘Supernatural: Bloodlines’ as episode 20 of ‘Supernatural’ (which will air on Tuesday, April 29th) will serve as the backdoor pilot for the series.
