We thought we had a team in place. The six original Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk and Hawkeye were set to return alongside Nick Fury and Maria Hill in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and would be joined by Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch as well as Anthony Mackie as The Falcon, who will debut in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’.
Then Marvel threw us a curve ball and announced that Paul Bettany (the voice of Jarvis in previous films) will appear as The Vision. Now it sounds as if another Marvel hero will be squeezing into this next film.
Carol Danvers, formerly Ms. Marvel, currently Captain Marvel, is in the mix. Katee Sackhoff was previously rumored to be in talks with Marvel for an unspecified role, but she certainly bears a physical resemblance to the character. And even years ago, when Carol transformed from Ms. to Captain Marvel, there was talk that the shift was made and that her costume was redesigned to be more concealing in a step to make her more actress-friendly.
I’m a huge Carol fan, so I’d love to see her on the big screen and there has been talk for quite some time now that she was likely going to be the next female Marvel hero to appear on screen, possibly even in her own movie. So it’s not shocking that her name is now coming up again.
However… obviously, that’s a lot of characters. There was already criticism of the first movie’s use of Hawkeye, because he spent half the film hypnotized. Can one two-hour movie actually service eleven… ELEVEN super heroes? And there have been prior rumors that Black Panther may make an appearance! That’s TWELVE! Will Carol get lost in the shuffle? Or will her part simply be a tease for her own movie coming up?
Or is it all just a rumor?
What do you think? Do you want to see Captain Marvel in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’? Or does she deserve her own movie first? Or is she a better fit for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’? And is Sackhoff a good fit or is there someone else that you think is better suited? Sound off in the comments section below!
