In the past two months, there have been some huge developments with Edgar Wright’s ‘Ant-Man’. After Paul Rudd joined the cast in late December, he was confirmed as Scott Lang when Michael Douglas was announced as Hank Pym last month. Now that the titular leads are taken care of, focus shifts to the rest of the cast, including the female lead that many assume will be Janet Van Dyne, Pym’s love interest that takes up the mantle of The Wasp. Previous rumors have connected frequent Rudd collaborator Rashida Jones to the role, but it appears that another name has entered the race.

According to Variety, Marvel is in early talks with Evangeline Lilly for the female lead of the upcoming Phase Three film. There are no further details regarding the exact role that the star of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ will take, but the report speculates that she could play Pym’s daughter, Lang’s love interest, or both. Other rumors going around have said that Wright and Joe Cornish may have drifted away from the comics in this aspect of their script by making Van Dyne the daughter of the older Ant-Man, but those rumors have yet to be confirmed. Whether Lilly is in line to play the Wasp or not, she is being targeted to appear in this Marvel movie either way.
