April sees the debut of two new DC comic book series, ‘Justice League United’ and ‘Batman Eternal’, but it also sees the cancellation of six current ongoing titles.

‘Superman Unchained’ is the high-profile series set outside of New 52 continuity and was created by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee, whose initial story arc ends in Aprils issue #9, which is new, apparently the end of the entire series.

‘Nightwing”s current writer Kyle Higgins had previously stated that he was leaving the book with issue #29 (March).  Now it appears that the series will feature one last issue, #30 written by James Tynion IV and Meghan Hetrick and will cease publication.  (The character’s fate is currently in the air, in ‘Forever Evil’.)

‘Nightwing’ was one of the first New 52 books, but isn’t the only one saying goodbye in April.  Also cancelled are ‘Suicide Squad’, ‘Teen Titans’ and ‘Stormwatch’.  These titles have been controversial from the start.  ‘Teen Titans’ writer Scott Lobdell announced the series’ end last week, while ‘Stormwatch’ was already confirmed to be wrapping up back in November.  ‘Suicide Squad”s conclusion apparently ties into the finale of ‘Forever Evil’.

The sixth book that is ending was also previously announced, ‘Justice League of America’ which is being replaced by ‘Justice League United’, originally announced as ‘Justice League Canada’.
