Even though ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ isn’t out yet, there’s a ton of talk about all the upcoming sequels and spinoffs. But there’s still plenty to talk concerning Marc Webb’s next adventure featuring Peter Parker. One of the hottest Spidey topics was from the summer that involved Shailene Woodley’s Mary Jane Watson getting cut from the follow up to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’. At the time, the parties involved were unsure about the actress taking up the role once again in the threequel, but now, she opens up about her potential involvement in the film or lack thereof.
According to an interview with MTV at Sundance, Woodley mentioned that she’s still uncertain about playing the plucky redhead in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ due to her commitments to her other major franchise, ‘Divergent’. However, she’s not ruling it out all together. Check out the interview in the video below:
Despite the third movie being scheduled for June 10, 2016, hopefully Sony can find a way to get Woodley into the film. She has shown that she is quite the young actress in such things as ‘The Spectacular Now’ and ‘The Descendants’, but she’s getting ready to really break through once she stars in two highly anticipated adaptations of very popular books, ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ and ‘Divergent’. With all of this buzz surrounding her, she’d be a welcome addition to any franchise, so it might be in the studio’s best interest to try to keep her. But we’ll see how the situation unfolds once the sequel enters the pre-production phase.
