We know that CBS has big plans for ‘Extant‘ and hope the show has the same success as their last summer hit ‘Under the Dome‘ though this teaser isn’t really giving us much to go on. I love the idea of Halle Berry (‘Cloud Atlas‘, ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’) starring in a mystery thriller about a female astrunaut who’s trying to return to a normal life after being in space where something happened that is going to change humanity forever. The problem is we still don’t know how much of this is going to be drama and how much will be science fiction or where the line will be drawn on what the show will focus on.
The teaser is short and I’m not sure if sweet is the right word since we don’t really get a whole lot here. Let’s take a quick look.
This teaser was just too short. Sure we get an idea for the meaning of ‘Extant’ but that doesn’t give us a whole lot of information on either the tone or course of the show itself. The synopsis is still too vague with what little we’ve been given and I feel that if CBS wants the same success as ‘Under the Dome’ then they need to really pickup the pace, at least a little in the near future.
I know I’m being harsh on this, but Steven Spielberg has such a mixed success rate when it comes to television. You take his hits and they are spectacular but when you mix in shows like ‘Terra Nova‘ and you have to tread cautiously. I’d love to see another good piece of science fiction on television but we just haven’t been given enough details on this yet and summer is quickly approaching and with the next half-season of shows already starting up, it won’t be long now!

Synopsis:
