Last year, when Brian Michael Bendis made the jump from ‘The Avengers’ to the ‘X-Men’, he reintroduced the world to Professor Xavier’s first class by bringing young versions of Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Iceman, and Jean Grey to the present day in ‘All-New X-Men’. Fans and critics alike have been praising the series as fresh and engaging and a gem of the Marvel NOW line of books. But now it appears that the ‘Avenger’ current writer, Jonathan Hickman, is taking a page from his predecessor for All-New Marvel Now.

While the new Marvel event starts this week with ‘Avengers’ #24.NOW, the House of Ideas is already teasing what’s to come in the next issue.  Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will have to take on a threat unlike any other… Themselves! Executive Editor Tom Brevoort comments on the new developments for the upcoming storyline:

“After wrapping up ‘Infinity’, Jonathan and I were pretty tired. Too tired to come up with anything new. That whole ‘All-New X-Men’ thing with the X-Men from the past has been working out pretty well for Brian Bendis, so we thought we’d jump on the bandwagon. Hence, the All-New Avengers! Sounds like the sort of thing that we’d do, doesn’t it?”

There are no additional details at the moment about how this new story with art from Salvador Larroca will differ from the current events coming out of the X-office, but I think that it will be more interesting to see the ramifications of more time travel in the Marvel Universe since the events of ‘Age of Ultron’ messed with the timeline pretty badly.

However, what we do have is a preview of the issue that goes on sale on January 22, 2014. You can check out the pages featuring the original team of Avengers in the gallery below:
