When Disney first acquired Lucasfilm, things on the ‘Star Wars’ video game front looked bleak. While EA had been given the exclusive rights to produce games set in a galaxy far, far away, Disney CEO Bob Iger had mentioned that they would be focusing on social and mobile gaming as opposed to console games. Because of this, all were totally surprised when word of ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ got out at the most recent E3. However, that doesn’t mean that they’ve forgotten about the other thing.
Disney Interactive has released a new teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars: Attack Squadron’, a new free-to-play online PVP game set to launch in 2014. Three different modes of play will be available for players in the upcoming space combat game including a team dogfight, a free-for-all between 16 players, and Base Defense (which is fairly self-explanatory). Players will be able to earn points for their efforts that can be applied to upgrades and personal touches to the iconic ‘Star Wars’ ships that they will use like the TIE Fighter and the X-Wing. You can check out the teaser video for the game below:
Currently, no release date has been announced, but if you wish to sign up to be part of the beta version, the game’s official site has all the information necessary to do so. And if you want to see even more of the game, you can check out the gallery of stills below:
