The first trailer for ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is now online! While yesterday’s teaser snippet left much to be desired (after all, how much can you get out of just hearing someone yell they want to speak to Caesar?), the trailer at least gives more context and a look at the apes who will be dominating the world.
Immediately we find out that the film will take place years after the first film, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’, which explains the absence of James Franco’s character, Will Rodman. And remember that super- intelligent, sympathetic little chimp Caesar (Andy Serkis) that we all fell in love with? Well, he is now the cold hearted leader of a faction of evolved apes ready to wage war against the remaining humans on the planet.
Will new leading man Jason Clarke be able to save humanity? (Considering this is supposed to be the second of a trilogy, probably not.) We’ll have to wait and see as ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is set to be released next summer.
Check out the trailer below and let us what you think!
Synopsis:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Directed by Matt Reeves, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer and will be released in theaters on July 11, 2014.
