Much as ‘Machete’ started off as a fake trailer in the ‘Grindhouse’ films, ‘Machete Kills Again…In Space’ is a fake trailer that takes place before the latest movie ‘Machete Kills’. While the second movie in the series bombed at the box office, there’s always a chance that the movies will run through as a trilogy. If a third one gets made, this trailer may be what the third movie will be about!

‘Machete Kills Again… in Space’ will be a sharp departure of the classic exploitation films that Robert Rodriguez (‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For‘, ‘Spy Kids’) has been trying to recreate as he sets his sights in a genre that took place “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….” See what I mean in this “trailer” below:

So yes this trailer does have a couple things in common with, and might even be inspired by, a certain franchise you may have heard of entitled ‘Star Wars‘. Between the outfits, blasters and lightsaber styled machetes (which was truly a brilliant idea!) there is a lot going on in this video. The main thing I think everyone will be excited for, though, is to imagine how awesome it will be to see Danny Trejo (‘The Cloth‘) as Machete fighting the good fight against Leonardo DiCaprio’s (‘Inception‘) character. I love the fact that so many mainstream actors enjoy Rodriguez’s work that they are willing to make cameos like this. I just wish the mainstream audiences enjoyed it enough as well to make it a commercial success so we could keep seeing more!

If anything, maybe Rodriguez could call up his old friend Samual L. Jackson (‘The Avengers‘) to be his spoof of a Jedi as he doesn’t seem to be busy with the new ‘Star Wars’ production at the moment.

If you did miss ‘Machete Kills’ in theaters, you can check it out in the comfort of your home on Video on Demand on January 7th 2014 or pickup the Blu-ray or DVD released on January 21st, 2014. Enough viewing and sales might just get this amazing looking ‘Star Wars’ inspired film put into production.
