There have long been rumors that Sony was going to follow the route Marvel has laid out for it’s own films with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘ and drop the 2 and give it a subtitle. Today we’ve found out what that subtitle will prove to be, at least in Brazil. While the main two that have been bandied bout on the rumor mill so far have been “Price of Power” or “With Great Power” it looks as if the full title in Brazil is going to be: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man: Rise of Electro’. While we know there are a lot of rumors of multiple villains in this sequel to try to lead up to the Sinister Six eventually this is clearly pointing towards Electro being the only villain of mention in the film.

However, while the name has been finalized for Brazil that doesn’t necessarily mean it will remain the same when we see it’s official announcement with trailer in the upcoming weeks. It’s quite often that a name for a film in one country, even just the subtitle portion, will be changed for another.Marvel is a good example of this as well with it’s upcoming Captain America sequel next year to be called “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” as it’s wide release but in Germany it’s official name is “Captain America: The Return of the First Avenger”.

So we might still see another name for the film around the globe. Only time will tell.

“In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.”

What are your thoughts folks? Is ‘Rise of the Silver Surfer Electro’ a good title? Would you have preferred one of the other two mentioned above or something completely different?
