Generally when working with electricity you want to be careful but it looks like Jamie Foxx’s (‘Django Unchained’) portray of Max Dillon isn’t at the top of his safety in this shot from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. The image is apparently just moments before the pivotol scene in the film where he makes his transformation from Dillon into Electro!

I won’t lie I’m curious to see what the special effects are going to look like that change him from the above shot to this:

It honestly looks like they are being inspired by the Ultimate Universe Electro with this one and I’m wondering if they’ll be going off of his first origin or that of the Ultimate Universe origin. Either way, he started as a criminal who is changed to become a master of electricity. In this take it sounds more like he’s a scientist right off the bat where things go wrong for him. Jamie’s original description of the character went along the lines of:

“You’ll see his whole life is just no one is talking to him, people have stolen his ideas at the company, he’s a nobody. And at a certain point Spider-Man bumps into him and says, ‘You’re my guy, you’re my ears and eyes on the street,’ and he says his name, Max, and no one’s ever said Max Dillon’s name, and he goes ‘Wow.’ And so when Spider-Man leaves he sort of thinks that somehow, ‘I am Spider-Man’s partner,’ and so he starts cutting out his face and pasting it on his board at home. When everything goes bad, his mom doesn’t remember his birthday, I mean all these crazy things happen until finally he has something tragic happen, and then when it turns on he lights it up.”

So if that still proves to be true it’ll be people are taking his ideas and he wants to be Spider-Man’s sidekick or partner in defending the city from crime. Could this experiment that turns him into Electro actually be a misguided attempt to help the webhead? Will his transformation because of it cause him to blame Spider-Man for what happened to him? We won’t get to find out until May 2nd, 2014 (April 18th for those in the UK.)

Any theories on how Electro’s origin will be portrayed in the film? Will he be a petty criminal who gets amazing powers to use against Spidey or will this all be a giant misunderstanding by a guy who just has really low self esteem? Share your thoughts below!
