Joss Whedon has been saying for some time now that he plans on including the superpowered pair of The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the crown jewel of Marvel’s Phase Two, ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Recently, ‘Kick-Ass’ star Aaron Taylor-Johnson officially signed on to play the speedster and the rumor going around was that his ‘Godzilla’ costar Elizabeth Olsen would be taking on the more magical Maximoff sibling. However, despite Samuel L. Jackson’s comments about her involvement in the project, there was no actual confirmation that the ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ star had actually taken the role. That is, until now.

While promoting the remake of ‘Oldboy’, Olsen spoke to MTV about her upcoming role in the sequel to ‘The Avengers’. The actress notes that it’s a little weird that she and Taylor-Johnson go from playing husband and wife in one movie to twin brother and sister in the next, but she’s excited to reteam with him and to work with Whedon. You can check out the interview where she lets the cat out of the bag in the video below:

With the news of James Spader playing Ultron and the spawn of the Master of Magnetism (who cannot be named in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to rights issues with Fox), the next assembly of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is starting to take shape. Of course, there are some big details such as the creator of the film’s big baddie that are still top secret, but if we knew everything this far away from the movie’s premiere, then it would spoil all the fun.

What do you think of Elizabeth Olsen officially taking on the role of the Scarlet Witch in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver? Do you think that she’s a good fit to play the character? Let us know your thoughts on this bit of casting news in the comments.

‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ assembles in theaters on May 1, 2015.
