We have previously reported that it was rumored that rising actress Elizabeth Olsen (younger sister of the famous Olsen Twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley) was likely to be stepping into the role of The Scarlet Witch, the probability manipulating mutant hero for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.  Marvel and Disney have not yet announced the casting of either this character or her brother, the super speedy Quicksilver (although ‘Kick-Ass 2’ star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is in the front-running).

But leave it to the always candid Samuel L. Jackson, who stars as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury, to perhaps let the cat out of the bag.  While speaking to the Wall Street Journal regarding his surprise cameo in Tuesday night’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, he was questioned about the status of ‘Age of Ultron’ to which he responded:

“I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. Olsen, but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”

Marvel did announce Spader’s casting about a month ago, so that was no surprise, but I’m sure the studio wanted to maybe make a big deal out of who would be playing the two newest Avengers!

Olsen has previously appeared in ‘Silent Hill’ and ‘Liberal Arts’ and will hit theaters in just a couple of weeks on October 16th, in ‘Kill Your Darlings’ a movie already gaining critical buzz.  Though she tends to stick to indie fare, she does have two high profile films also coming soon, Spike Lee’s ‘Old Boy’ based on the classic manga and Gareth Edwards’ revamp of ‘Godzilla’ which also happens to star Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Incidentally, Olsen and Taylor-Johnson are already listed as having been cast in ‘Age of Ultron’ on IMDB and despite there not being a completed script, Anthony Mackie is listed as reprising his role as The Falcon from next year’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’  (That is a LOT of super heroes!)

Well, what do you think?  Are we jumping the gun, or are Olsen and Taylor-Johnson a lock to play the mutant siblings?
